I believe the following photo (with modifications by Pontus) says all that needs to be said about my Australia Day...

Damien is in an absolutely appalling mood today, stand back.

Everything at work is getting on my nerves, and annoying me to pieces, and I'm getting narky at my supervisor. Lack of sleep last night due to a terrible 'Scrubs' addiction is mostly to blame, but the horrible code we've concocted for this project isn't helping at all. Hate Java, and Java == Death.

Better go and get it done, so that I can get the hell outside, and then go home and sleep.

I honestly didn't mean to slander Ben's mad cooking skillz (yo), that was just a photo of his proven domestication (he's far more house trained than I am!). I didn't actually notice the can and associated implications until it was pointed out.

I just voted in the Hottest 100, after much deliberation and cutting out of songs I really liked. But, I eventually managed to get my final 10:

Architecture in Helsinki - Wishbone. AIH nearly got a number of votes, but I ended up cutting the rest of their songs to fit in others. Rather unfortunate, seeing as they're all so cute I just want to take them home and feed them cookies.

Beautiful Girls - Ashes. About the only song I know by these guys, but it was fairly safe in the list (wouldn't quite have made a final 5 though).

Eels - Hey Man. Like AIH, Eels got cut down to 1 song in my list. Like AIH, it would have made a final 5. And I really would love to sit down to a good dinner with any of the Eels members (from Eels with strings), with a good bottle of wine.

Epicure - Tightrope Walker. This song gets stuck in my head on a regular basis, it's beautiful (another for the final 5). Unfortunately I still haven't seen Epicure live, though I want to.

Mountain Goats - This Year. My theme song lately, I think (also final 5).

Panics - My Best Mistake. I was pretty out of it when I saw these guys live, but I do remember this song rather well. Unfortunately for the Panics they tend to make great background music, which means I don't really learn their songs all that well.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Little Sister. Not a band that would normally make my final 10, but this song definitely does. A bit personal, really (though I haven't paid that much attention to most of the lyrics).

Sarah Blasko - Flame Trees. The first of the covers to make it in my list, and too beautiful not to. I love how minimalist it is, just helping her voice along a touch.

Sons & Daughters - Dance Me In. Another band that I hardly know, but this song is great. I really have a thing for awesome melody lines. And Scottish bands, it seems, though Idlewild didn't quite make the final cut (I don't know their new stuff so well).

Youth Group - Forever Young. The second cover, apparently, in my list. It's that whole awesome vocal melody thing that does it again. Would also be final 5, if I had to have one.

So, now you know what I voted for, what did everyone else vote for (I've seen Jen's list)?

I could not let a day go buy without defending my cooking. Yeah, Anthony got lucky and caught me pouring a can of TOMATOES in to a frying pan, what the hell! Defend me, Elise!!

Also, Jen, Zoe.. I've lost/misplaced/eaten your MSN and/or ICQ contacts, let me know which you prefer and give me them! Everyone else I have. Where's Wendy?

Photos!

So, I finally got organised, and got my photos from when I was in Siddony...

Ben can cook! See!

While Elise and Damo do laze. This must make you wonder if Ben is their bitch.

But no, see! Ben doth laze also!

What can you do, when your world's been invaded by a reggaejunkiejew? Nothing, apparently.

Elise, however, just looks cute!

While Ben gets mildly damp. Whatcha looking at Ben?

Aww, the waves. Aren't they fun?

Someone seems to have brought a monkey though. If this is your monkey, please keep him leashed and off the children's playground. Yes, we know no children were present, but if there were, they would've been scared.

Aww, he can pat the pup and play on his laptop at the same time!

Elise, I'm sure he's not old enough for that yet!

That is all for now. I must go to that place where I sit in a cell while men in white coats poke me with sticks all day... I mean work... yeah, that's it, work...

Jen, all of the photos are stuck on my memory card until I get my card reader back (my camera and my computer don't like each other). I will put them up somewhere once they're on my computer.

Provided I don't forget again.

On the annoyance that summer can be: Don't get me wrong, I love summer. But you'd think that with all this hot weather around it would at least have the decency to rain a lot. Not necessarily where I am, mind you, but where I want to go for a swim. Lying in a rockpool with a beer is far less enjoyable when it's only 25cm deep and you have to share it with a large amount of slime and at least 1 bunyip... oh wait, that was just someone draped in slime. Still, a small rockpool is better than no rockpool at all.

On drinking: When I drink, for some reason I lose all sloquence and normal co-ordination, but my sporting co-ordination doesn't change. As evidenced by me taking a lot of beer before I could beat a near-sober person at ping pong. This leads me to my long-held belief that drinking should be conducted near either a) a reliable source of coolness, b) in the presence of slightly silly games, or c) all of the above. c) is obviously the most preferable of the options available.
